Ennui

Ennui

By Saad Javed

Listless and lethargic, I sit

And wait

For my turn at the barbershop,

I know the dexterous hands

Of the blathering barber

Would ruin my hair, too

For I would ask him to do,

The very same thing

I fail to even laugh,

At myself

Pity my catharsis comes through a haircut,

Pity my barber is my shrink,

Pity my falling hair teach me,

Growing affections too, are

To be cut,

Evil be nipped in the bud!

Pity I hang between what I know

And want to know,

What I feel

And want to feel…

@Usman Mir:

Thank you Usman. Thank you so very much. I'm grateful you went out of your way and looked it up on the internet and found it and cared enough to appreciate it. For all this, my gratitude is immense. And if I were a fair-skinned firangi, I'd be blushing red rite now.

:D
